The most important recent change in the office market is the first speculatively built office building which achieved planning consent last week and which now has a For Sale or To Let board overlooking the plot. This can be found at Moulton Park over-looking the Red House Road, Lower Farm Road junction. The property will offer 2,000 Sq.Ft. of first class office space over two floors with car parking on site. Contractors are expected on site within the next few weeks and the building will be complete in the second quarter of 2016. Chown Commercial is also pleased to announce the sale of Vogue House, a block of 7 flats on St Michaels Road, Northampton, which sold last month.


Before updating the retail activity on the High Street it is also interesting to note that two enquiries for Children’s Nursery were received when the Kingsthorpe Clinic was offered at the beginning of September. As we go to press one of the applicants only can be successful and there is obviously still demand for alternative premises in the area for child-care.


Finally, then, retail lettings last month in the town centre included 48 The Drapery, as a specialist café and 114 – 116 Abington Street, an A1 retail shop. It is interesting to note that marketing both has been less than a month, which backs up the message that the town centre is continuing to do good business.


Chown commercial are currently retained by both office and retail clients actively seeking new premises. Of particular interest are those properties where short-term temporary lettings were agreed over the last two or three years and where improved rents or prices may now be achievable.
